Productinformation

Riding boots are exposed to conditions that are not good for the leather on a daily basis. Think of sweat, ammonia, manure and horse hair. And of course rain and mud in the winter. Wear and tear is inevitable with frequent use, but you can limit this to a minimum by taking the best possible care of your boots. Petrie has developed a special care line: the Petrie Bootcareset. So that you can enjoy your riding boots for as long as possible!

Step 1: Petrie cream before riding

Always apply a moisturising and clear boot cream to the entire riding boot before riding, such as Petrie Riding Boot Cream. The cream should be easy to spread and give a shine. It should not be too greasy, because then sand and dust will stick to the boot. You use the cream to nourish the leather and seal it off from external influences, such as the horse's sweat. Sweat is salty and draws moisture from the leather, causing the leather to dry out and crack. Never apply the cream to the inside of the boot. Then the boot will no longer absorb moisture and will become water-repellent.

Tip: Polishing with tights gives a nice shine.

Step 2: Petrie cleaner after riding

Clean the riding boots after riding with a good, concentrated cleaner, such as Petrie Riding Boot Cleaner. This will wash the salt off the leather. Let it dry for a while and then apply a leather cream. Let it soak into the boot for a while and then polish it out. If you don't normally follow the rules that closely, then let it soak in for a day! Are you someone who always takes good care of themselves? Then you can polish it out faster. We advise against using a regular leather cleaner for cleaning, because it does not contain enough salt solvent. Moreover, it often does not contain any added nutrients.

Tip: Make sure you polish the cleaner and cream well with grained leather immediately. The shoe polish can then dry in the grains. This makes the Bootcare products more difficult to spread, which can cause white deposits.
